Hi,

I have decided to buy myself a new set of wheels. My budget is around £200 - £250.

Two options I have seen are the Campagnolo Scirocco and the Fulcrum Racing 5's.

Does anyone have any opinions over which I should go for or could you recommend anything else within my price range.

Many thanks.

  • Both very simialr. same hub in both just a different Shell styling.

Racing 5 uses a more standard spoke than the Campags but that is all that you could use to tell the diffence

Brought a pair of Fulcrum Racing 5's from these people at a good price:-

I believe Fulcrum are an off-shoot of Campagnolo.

If you want something easily repairable (sadly unlike what you have chosen) then a pair of hand built wheels by a good builder will get you something very nice. Factory wheels look great, fancy colours etc, but if you break a spoke or wear out a rim it is difficult to sort at any speed.
You can try the wheelroom as a recommendation from me.
  • Pro-lite are worth a look - 1500g wheels for £250.

those racing 5's are a bargain at £149 from merlin! - the cheapest I have seen scrirrocos at is £199 (also from merlin!) in which case I'd get the 5's and you have £50 left for some upmarket tyres and tubes.
