Been offered some Junior T's for my little 15" Hardtail.

Ive got some already on my GT LTS1000 and really love the feel and robustness. So any reason why I cant put these on my Specialized?

This is the bike in question...

You can put them, but the frame won't last for long.
Maybe 5min of riding and then, snap.

    lots of reasons not to.

but before i start which year of JrT are they as it will depend on which reasons i give. there are about 10 different versions. from ´99 to 2006

I cant think of any reason to go more than 110/120mm on that bike anyway.

spesh dont even list the bike as an MTB it is an ATB.

The frame wont snap that easily, the headtube and welds are massive, its listed as an ATB due to the components on the bike as standard (non of which i have any longer).

The forks in question are 2003 model i think, which have around 7" of travel.

Il be ready to hear the reasons against, because they are fairly cheap....

Because it 'looks' strong does not mean it is. The guys at Spesh designed the frame for a narrow range of fork lengths - this is how they balance a bike's strength/weight/cost.

It will ruin the geom/handling. The frame will probably snap. Oh, and you'll look like a complete spanner.

    7" forks on a Hardrock? : :?
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Serious overkill, you bike isn't a jump bike never mind putting DH forks on it.

  • 180mm travel on a bike designed for 80-100mm, if you cant work this one out for yourself there's no hope!

As i said, I wouldnt ask the question if I thought it was fine. I have actually seen a couple with long travel forks, which is what made me ask.

I get the hint though
