Hi all,

Can anyone tell me how you differentiate between the different variants, in particular the shift levers, Is there an easy way to tell?

I am used to Campag and have the opportunity to buy a 2008 bike, full dura ace and want to know what level of Dura Ace it will have on - I am guessing 7800??

Cheers,
Lig.

They are not so much variants. Each higher number is a newer model which supercedes the last one. 2008 will probably be 7800 which is the first 10sp one. You may be lucky and it has 7900. The current one is 7900 which I believe came out for 2009.

    Thanks John,

Can you tell me did the 7900 have the gear cables routed externaly or internally? As the one I am looking at has them externally. Which makes me think it is 7800? Can you get 7900 with both? As I thought they were just internal??

    Cheers,

7900 is internal, 7800 and everything before is external (for gears)
