MTB cheap road tyres???

Hullo, I am after some cheap road tyres for my old MTB (26") as I cant afford a road bike and have an old set of rims I can use, that I found in my garage. Not much money to spend on a set, I will be using them mainly on tarmac and occasionally a dirt tow path. Any suggestions???

Schwalbe Land Crusier MTB Tyre have very positive reviews - Seem ideal for tarmac/slight off road loose terrain on a MTB (Puncture Protected!) - unfortunately cheaper Wiggle are sold out but can get the 1.75" for £24 ^

Pick the cheap ones I have no experiance on mtb road tyres but alot of the tyres on that page have buyer reviews that may make your choice easier.

All Terrain Cycles are pretty good for tyre prices. Yet to use them since discovering this, but they undercut CRC for the Land Cruisers... £11-94 for either 1.75" or 1.90"!

^ You can actually get a half decent semi slick folding tyre for £14. It's a 2.0 so it's comfortable but rolls brilliantly and gives enough grip on light off road and doesn't weigh a ton. I like 'em.
