Well, well...I have to concede defeat - now mine wont look half as impressive when its posted up here :wink:

Must say though, I'm so pleased I went for the polished finish and laser logos myself (was offered satin/polished logos) and now I've seen it on yours, Louis, it definately the better looking/wearing of the two finishes

Well done on the blue highlights; subtle, but effective (reckon mine'll be overkill by comparison  )

Great spec; probably pricier than mine 8) I do have to say though...maybe the satin finish woulda suited the Fox's better...

    :P

Very nice... perhaps a non-setback post is required before you destroy that saddle though?!

Tom- was just about to PM you to let you know i never got chance to ride it last weekend, but i WILL get out this week and give it a go! was certainly pretty pricey but i'm not bothered about that, I'm sure yours will look just as impressive mate.

AidenR - will probably move my saddle forward , i Haven't finished fine tuning my set up yet TBH
  • That looks fantastic. I have one on order myself, just speccing up various parts for it at the moment. Are the welds as tidy as those in the Pipedream facebook pics?

Good lord man, I've had one of these Sirius frames on pre order for 5 months - I know that.

Tom and Louis couldn't wait any longer and Stuart dangled the shiny version at them at discount price. I wanted an 853 and by christ I'll sit it out till I get one.

LOL, that's a hell of a wait BP - I would have taken the shiny bait - I'm soooo impatient!

Lovely frames though.... cracking price. Am very impressed!!! 8)

Believe me it very nearly happened. :D

If it wasn't for the fact that i got my original pre-order price at £220 it most definitely would have happened, that and i've demo'd Ti before and wasn't 100% sold.

Blister - havent ridden it yet mate but when i suss out optimum travel i'll let you know. Yeah £699 is a cracking price for one of these beauties, but not nearly as good a price as i got one for ....
  • Louis, Stuart's emailed me saying that they've finalised my frame and he should be getting the images over from Paul, his fellow-PD contact over there, of the final design, with the Paragon Dropouts and Engraved Headtube, so I'll get these over to you when I can - might coincide with your thoughts/feelings on its ride over the w/end too, mate

I always wanted the sliders, and I know I paid extra for the engraving, but it was an opportunity to get something truely unique (unless I come across someone who happens to have the same astrological starsign as me...and is as aesthetically anal as I could be  )
£50 well spent I feel;plus, the material thats being removed might reduce the frames weight...by a whole 2g perhaps

As a side note, having totted up the weight of all my parts, I reckon I might squeeze into the 10kg mark...perhaps :P I also notice you've got the Sun Ringle Ryde's on there - from your Cube Ltd, I take it? Has it been used as a parts-munkey?

Tom - the sun ringle wheels are not from my cube, but from my riding buddies cube, i fully intend to get some XT wheels when money allows, but as i'm sure you can appreciate, this project has not come cheat.

My cube has not been used for parts......how dare you...
my cube is awesome and here for good....just hope the pipedream is as good....

also.......weight was never the key factor......obviously i would like it as light as possible.....but being able to cope with a good thrashing is much more important...!!

Louis, did you get a choice of 'Pipedream' 'Sirius' decals??
  • LoUiS1985
    LoUiS1985 Posts: 841
Blister - No i never got a choice as such, however i did state that i preffered the 'older' style decals, and was told that the frames were being made with those older style decals. When the frames turned up however it never had those decals on but the ones in the picture.

I aint really bothered in the slightest as i just wanted to get out and ride on the bloody thing..!

Going to Sherwood Pines tomorrow for a blast so will keep you updated...

I hear you. and lol cause Stuart told me the same thing because I said i preferred the old decals to the modern 'blocked' ones so it looks like the first batch of either is you get what you're given and be grateful. :P

Enjoy the ride, be interesting to see what you first make of it.

    Impatient.......

Anyways just got back from the weekends riding, went to Sherwood Pines on Saturday and Cannock Chase today, had a great time!!

In Summary......The bikes is fantastic, extremely confidence inspiring. I'm sure a large part of this is due to the frame, both material and geometry, but having said that i think the component choices suit it beautifully! I experimented with different travel options and definitely found it better at the longer end of the travel (140mm, sagged about 35mm) The handling still seems responsive though with long travel, it turns on a sixpence, honestly real 'point and shoot' kinda stuff!! It climbs tremendously well also, probably as you expect for a mid 20pound hardtail, but yeah it climbs with ease. Going downhill though it's in a different class, I can honestly say that i was riding as hard as i possibly could, i was on the edge, hardly braking unless it was ABSOLUTELY vital. (which for me is a new concept as i'm often quite heavy on the brakes) Just standing, shifting weight around as necessary and letting the TALAS' suck up the bumps and really thrashing the thing, it was awesome! It goes without saying that i love it and it out-performed me by a million miles, although my riding seems to have gone to the next level, and i'm chuffed ( as i'm sure you can tell)

I must also say that i found 'Follow the Dog' @ Cannock Chase an awesome little trail. Only 7 miles long but really flowed from start to finish and enabled me to test mynew machine out. I'll definitely be going back there in the near future...!!

    Hope this helps guys.......... :lol::lol::lol::wink:
