I am new to all this, so my knowledge is very limited only based on what I have read on the net over the last couple of weeks.
I have decided to purchase a Mountain Bike through the ride to work scheme & have narrowed it down to two bikes but I am totally open to other recommendations. The two bikes are both £999, one is a Cannondale F3 2009 with Rockshock forks (on sale) & the other is a Trek 6500.
I have heard a couple of negative stories regarding Cannondale bikes & the after sales service, but I'm not one to believe everything I read on the net.
I will be riding on Canal/Road & will eventually do more off road, so I think these choices should be a safe bet?
Cheers
Dave

Both are decent bikes - though it is the shop that provides the after sales service.
Try them out, see what feels and fits best.0 -
I was looking at the trek 6500 not too long ago but kept looking, i did a bit of research and found that a medium 6500 weighs in at 12.74kg! Have you looked at the cube ltd team or ltd race? Obviously a boardman pro is light but regardless of how good everyone says it may be it will never have the brand appeal! I have yet to decide on a bike myself yet, but the more i read i'm getting seriously tempted with a 29er!0

+1 on the cubes mentioned, seem fairly well spec'd and they look amazing too! Mate just bought a rockhopper expert on ctw scheme and its as light as a feather, xt drivetrain and rockshox recons.0

Cheers guys!
Yes I have been looking all day (at work;)) & I must admit I recon I have found the one. It's the Cube LTD Race in Black, looks absolutely superb & is very well spec'd. It's weighing in at 11.5KG...is this pretty good for the spec/price?0 -
Yep, a good weight for the money.0
