I've narrowed it down to the following two wheelsets -

Superstar Tech2 XC (£100)
http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_ ... cts_id=203

Or

Xero Session Freeride (£90)
http://www.woollyhatshop.com/view_product.php?id=1336

Cant find many reviews on either. Cant afford any more than this so please dont suggest any other wheels that i will only end up wanting but not being able to afford. I've already spent alot on my bikes and i really cannot afford a divorce!!

Main use will be trails etc and i'm 12st, so strength isnt an issue.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

No, due to my lack of knowledge with MTB kit, the sheer amount available is quite daunting!

id go for xero,s .they,re lighter, cheaper and look good plus they,re heavily reduced so very good for the money. plus theyre more of a trail wheelset , the superstars are marketed as a xc set but are very heavy for this purpose. also i dont think you get quick release levers with the superstar wheels. ive used both road and off road xero,s and never had a problem.

yes also good wheels but you would also need shimano centre lock dics or adapters which would bump the price up

  • i've got the Xero's and highly recommend them, especially fgor the price,
had mine since May last year and they get abused most rides! lot of big rooty stuyff and a fair amount of Very stony Fast runs, Never had a problem with them till last weekend when i popped a spoke, Not bad considering i'm just under 16st! (100kg on the 'dog scales at the vets!) and yeah, they do look good too! - trued the rear twice in that time, and only from Very minor out of true but i like to have them true! butt never touched the front, no need to!
more of a god trail wheel as are Qr front not bolt through which is a bit odd for a freeride wheelset, but overall, a Great value set, and Highly recommended!
