Rocker Upgrade?

I'm just wondering if anyone here would know where I could attain a rocker arm from something like a Kona Coiler or Carrera Banshee?

I'm looking to do a bit of an attempt at seeing if I can do a suspension upgrade on my Shockwave Dirt 8. I've measured up my rocker, and from what I can tell, I may be able to use a Kona or Carrera rocker, just fitted with washers ect to make it fit. With a decent size rocker and a 200mm shock should mean that I'll have quite a monster of a bike.

If anyone can point me in the right direction as to where to get a rocker arm, then I'd be really greatful!

Cheers.

Danny

well the first big problem you are going to have is the wheel hitting the seat tube/post. then you will have problems with all the angles and a bike that is crap to ride (sorry)

and then there is the cost

£100 for the plates (if they fit) expensive if they dont and then there is the shock cost and if it may fit or not.

oh and then there is that issue of the wheel

you would do better putting the money (and a bit) into a suitable used frame and shock.

took a while to see what the bike was.

    Race Face Ride XC cranks
    FSA 44t chainring
    FSA The Pig Headset
New wheels, disk compatible with new rubber

That's more along the lines of what I've done to it, and it was crap, not too bad now, just rather stiff on the rear suspension, hence I'll be getting a 200mm air shock to go in the crap spring shocks place, at least until I get enough together to get a decent frame.

What is the eye t eye length of the shock? Changing things by a few mm can have massive differences, as Nick points out.
  • Currently 165mm, looking at a 200, as the total length between the top of the shock and the mount on the downtube would mean it would run too close, hence the looking at a Kona or Carrera rocker, as it would give a little more length to the back end, to allow for a 200mm shock and also leave the spacing for the rear wheel.

Why not get a 165mm air shock with the same stroke? Your idea will just not work without seriously compomising the angles and handling.
