i have recently purchased some brand new forks of a pitch. i am having a bit of trouble with them and hope you guys can help

when the fork gets to the top of its travel there a 'top out clunk' its really annoying and worse when climbing i only have air and rebound adjustment. when static the fork feels like theres a tiny amount of free travel.

i am not sure if i could get rock shox to warrenty as i bought from the first owner technicaly.

how much sag are you getting?
and maybe slow the rebound down a bit.

well 50% is way too much. 20-30% so add more air.

Does playing with the rebound damper have any effect on the speed of rebound? Just wondering if the damping circuit oil has leaked (common problem). Try letting all the air out of the forks and seeing how much you can compress them by. ideal there should be no stanchion left visible. If there is a lot then there is a good chance the damping circuit is devoid of oil.

it is all on the sram tech pages.

  • As the fork is brand new send it back for warranty repair, as they'll probably replace the whole damper unit, and save you the hassle of having to mess about with it.
If your getting a harsh top out clunk with rebound set full slow running low pressures it would indicate that there is an issue with the damper.

There's a bit more on this problem in the FAQs as well but as Nick says look on the SRAM site, full service instructions here.
