Suspension with no spring?

I have got a Trek 3700 with SR Suntour M2025 forks and the bike is used for riding to and from work. So last night I took the spring out of the fork and the bike feels much better to ride on the roads.
It has bottom out bumpers so there is still a few cm of travel in the forks, but is that enough to stop the forks being shook apart? Are there any other dangers to running the fork like this that I haven't considered?
Cheers in advance.

What happens when you pull up on the bars? Do they just extend?0

sounds a bit dodgy to me lol0

No, they are pretty stiff, I am going to secude it with staps just incase too.
What do you reckon? are they likely to get damaged with no spring to control compression inside?0 -
If you bottom out yes. But the supplementary bumpers must be loaded and fixed to stop the extension of the fork. So it will sorta work ok!0

Well it is purely for roads so I am not about to be going offroad or jumping on it Though technically it is bottomed out, the only thing giving it any movement is the bumpers. :?
Cheers for your thoughts SS0 -
sounds as dodgy as having no forks, front wheel or handlebars, and riding along holding the head tube in a constant wheelie0

In theory the fork should be stronger having the santion fully inserted in the fork lower, I am just concerned about the bottom of the santions as there is no spring for the weight to be resting on...0

Would cutting the spring down work?
If you chopped it down to around 10mm there'd be something to cuchion your stanchions...i could be talking complete crap however....What We Achieve In Life, Echoes In Eternity0
