Haven't put any Crass on my ipod yet - now there is a trip down memory lane. A Mate of mine knows Penny Rimbald well and he is really into Jazz and Choral music these days - weird!
Out on the trails I love Pendulum, Rage Against the Machine, techno, trance or banging house. If I'm on a longer ride and don't want to exhaust myself too quickly I often listen to some nice Dub.Trek Top Fuel 9 2010, Stumpy Pro 2009 ,Giant XTC3 2009, Qu-ax Penny Farthing,
Elswick Hopper Model M delivery Bike 1960

At the moment on the pod I've got a bit of an electronic thing going
All the Aphex twin apart from Ambient Works 2
All of the R&S In order to Dance compilations
All of the Orbital albums
And another 40+ various Warp albums.
The most disturbing of all these has to be Aphex Twin Ambient works 1. Which is anything but and most of the songs have disconnected voices talking just above background noise level. This makes for some prety weird night rides.
Other times I have nothing but stuff like Slayer, Biohazard, Suicidal Tendancies, Sabbath which can then swing randomly to stuff like The Editors or KOL and Gorillaz.
But i do have the choice of over 4,000 albums when I last counted.Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.
Who are you calling inbred?0 -

I remember reading somewhere that penny and gee didn't particularly like the music when they were making it, it just fitted from an artistic perspective. to think avant garde hippies made some of the best punk eh?
shameless plug time: birmingham live music group, always recruiting http://www.meetup.com/Birmingham-Live-Music/ - could do with more punks too, we're under-represented

I love this video by Aphex Twin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXyIB2L52Dc
And again more than a little disturbing!
Spud - Penny was an 'old' hippy even then being right at the start of the festival scene. Here's a vid of Premaculture courses at Dial house (the original Crass house) that my mate runs - he's the fat bald bloke!:

There is some great musical taste being shown on this thread - and no that doesn't include 'Ghost Busters'Trek Top Fuel 9 2010, Stumpy Pro 2009 ,Giant XTC3 2009, Qu-ax Penny Farthing,

Sabotage by the Beastie Boys
Bulls On Parade by Killing in the Name0 -
aha,
a lot of that footage was used in the dutch Crass documentary that cropped up a while back wasn't it? a jolly down to dial house, educational as it'd no doubt be, always seemed a bit too sycophantic / overly reverential for me - there's a bit in the film with a load of tourists sat on the floor pretty much fawning at penny's feet. seems contrary to the point of the thing.
jesus, shouldn't have watched that aphex twin video whilst test-driving some shrooms - it's sent me a tad queer. wonderfully weird stuff as always.0 -
