If you ride your bike like it is designed, get the new front wheel and a solid axle.
It massivly stiffens up the front end of your bike.

QR was designed for road bikes and should no longer exist.
Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?

Rockshox rebas/revelations are good, depending what sort of riding you want to do. Rebas for more lightweight cross country type stuff, revs for more hardcore riding.

never heard such aload of bollocks in my life, my new 2010 revs feel far tighter and stiffer than fox's ive tested in the past and now ive got a DT RWS skewer on them i think they're miles stiffer than any 15mm fork, probably not 20mm tho, altho the only forks with 20mm ive tried are lyriks, 36's and a zocchi 66, which are bound to be stiffer because of the larger stanchion size. i agree with ilovedirt on the new forks, rev's or rebas, in fact my revs are only 50grammes heavier than my mates reba world cups, which have a carbon crown/steerer 8) the revs can be spaced down to 130mm easy enough, which allows you to put back upto 150mm if need be, but the rebas only go 120mm max, so id gor for the revs simply because of that

5 inch seems to mean different things to different people, it's 130mm but some people use it for 140mm too. If you can find an old-stock 130mm Revelation, they should be inexpensive and they're very good.

Have you done a direct comparison? I have. I went back to my QR 130mm Revelations from a 140mm Maxle Revelation, every other component is the exact same. The maxle rev is ever so slightly stiffer, but it makes such a tiny difference that I stopped noticing by the end of the first ride, and when I switched back I stopped noticing even faster.

On a longer fork, or a weaker fork, it probably does help more, I guess I'll get to test that again when I get my 150mm revs ;) But on shorter strong ones it's mainly hype. IMO of course.

A strong, stiff fork with a QR is going to be stiffer than a noodly one with a maxle.
