Your opinions on this please

Hi

Ive just started thinking about doing some mountain biking and have been looking at potential purchases. Can anyone tell me if this is a good bike?

Ive got about £500 as a budget with a little wiggle room if need be and looking around the net i came across this http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/19887/Kona_Hoss_Bike_2009

Would this be a good bike? or if anyone can make any reccomndations, i had a look at the sticky at the top but a lot of the links are to discontinued pages.

    If you are a heavyweight rider and plan to thrash it hard, is a good choice. But if not, a more XC oriented bike would be better for general woods and trail riding ie Carrera Fury, Boardman Sport, GT Aggressor XC2

    Nope im quite light weight really

    How come i can only really find this bike at Halfords?

    i quite like the look of this one

    Only Halfords stock the Aggressors - great bike. Look out for sales and reductions on them.

    Be worth visiting a local store and trying it out.

    the GT's from halfords can be found else where just in diffrent colours and with diffrnt names (and normally for a fair bit more £££)..
    If your looking to spend about £500 check out the decathlon rockrider 8.1, tora's, full X7, jucy 3's, gxp(hollowtech) chainset and the same frame they use right up to there £1400 hardtail.. for £500 you cant get better new IMO.

    +1 for GT aggressor XC2 great bike I got my son one and its been fantastic got it for £320 in sale last year

    thanks for recomendations.

    I quite liked the look of the decathlon one and the agressor

    is it wise to get a bike from Halfords?

    seen a Voodoo Wanga for £400 in my local halfords today, probably a one off to get rid of last years stock but decent reduction on an £800 bike. Some good bargains around.
