Compact to 53/39?

Just got hold of 2009 Trinity Alliance TT frame which is specced with a Pinarello MOST compact crankset - (don't ask!)

Can I simply fit 53/39 and slide the Front mech up (it seems to have the slide range)?

Thanks

Adam

Interesting because I'm thinking of changing from 53/39 to compact. Will it require a different length chain?

I might be wrong but I think you can buy 110BCD chainrings in 53/39 if you want.

    You can indeed.

And I highly rate Stronglight CT2 rings...

+1. The easiest way to get the best of both worlds.
    +1 on the Stronglight too.

Going that way with the same cassette you will probably have to take two links out of the chain. Going compact > standard you need to add two links. On my bike anyway.

If you change the cassette you may not need to change anything, e.g. I can use the same chain length with 39/53-11/23 and 34/50-12/27.
