Is it just me or is it really rare to find a cracking deal on eBay these days? Discuss........

The problem with a cracking deal is that it's usually a very poor deal for the person on the other end of it. After about a decade people are finally starting to wise up to that and try to get what the item is worth.0

I dunno I bought quite a few things off ebay recently, mainly biking clothes for me and the missus.
Hell I bought a brand new pair (still got tags on) of Animal cycling shorts for her, anywhere else £40, ebay £5.300 -
it always seems difficult to find bargains if i am buying but i always end up reuced to making bargains when selling.
is it just me or have ebay fees gone up too? i wanted to sell something the other week but if i had got my asking price of 400 quid i would have only recieved 350 due to the final value fee and the listing fee combined.0 -
Final value fee is now 10%.0

I got an as-new, built but not ridden Cotic Hemlock off Ebay last week for £540, more or less half the new price for what's effectively a new frame. And a pair of Bontrager Rhythm TLRs to go with it for £70 delivered because the guy couldn't spell "Rhythm" Still good stuff there, you just need to keep your powder dry.Uncompromising extremist0

Couldn't agree more got a 3 month old Core 30 for £478 when the list price last summer was £850 couldn't have been ridden more than half a dozen times, amongst the sellers other items were helmet, gloves and shorts. Apparenlty the guy had gone into evans on a whim and bought a bike and what he needed then decided it wasn't for him at the end of the summer.Ribble Gran Fondo

Yeah, my Kraken was like that too, though it was a gumtree buy not ebay. Biking's great for that really, motorbikes are the same, lots of practically new, ridden twice crashed once bikes in garages across the landUncompromising extremist0
