Garmin Trouble

I've just got my garmin 705 and I cant update the software. I'm using the updater then when it says disconnect and wait for it to turn itself back on it doesn't, it just stays off.

Also when I go onto the training center, when I connect the unit it says initilaizing failed. ive done a master reset as recommended but didnt help.

any ideas?
