Replace BB

Helppppppppp

Just upgraded to a Giant Advanced Defy 4, got a great deal £1K , cause of low price always intended to upgrade the Tektro brakes and FSA cranks to Shimano 105, only parts of groupset that are not 105. Now brakes easy and done.

Problem is the cranks, can't find any info on bb fitted, this is push fit, cranks are

Full Speed Ahead Gossamer compact chain set.

• Cold forged AL6061/T6 crank arms
• CroMo chainring bolts
• Finish: Polished black or silver anodized
• 10 speed
• Chainline: 43.5mm
• Q Factor: 147mm
• Arm Length: 170mm
• BCD: 110mm
• Chainrings: 34/50T

So my question is how do I get a push fit BB out and then what do I fit to be able to connect shimano cranks, all I can find for these are screw fit BB’s, I know the BB must match cranks, how do I fit screw fit BB to push fit casing

Thanks

I'm fairly certain that if you have a press-fit BB you can only replace it with another press fit BB. Threaded BBs will not be compatible...

Anyway,I would leave the Gossamer chainset on if I was you - it's good kit and every bit as good as a 105...if not slightly better...

105 will fit in the same BB as the Gossamer. But as above I would not bother. The Gossamer is just as good as the 105. I think it looks better.
  • My father had a problem with a Gossamer and a 105 FD... Wouldn't match and had a lot of shifting problems... Finally the LBS changed it for a 105...

I have a Sora 8sp front mech running on 9sp and an Ultegra 9sp running on 10sp. Both are on Gossamer chainsets and work perfectly. 105 would not be any better. Perhaps he should have changed the LBS instead.
