I'm reviving my 97 Spec M2 S-works hardtail & need some 80mm travel forks with 210mm + steerer, disc and V-brake mounts, definitely the latter, preferably light. Any recommendations for new light modern such forks without breaking the bank, seen Manitou R7's on CRC for £250, bit expensive but any good? Also, something called Spinner Aeris Sport on ebay for £150, any views? Thanks for your help.

The R7 is very light - the Spinner even lighter, but flexier. Both not as reliable as say RockShox.
Not many around with V mounts on now - but you say you need both these and disc mounts?0 -
thanks for quick reply, just want to keep the retro look with the xt v-brakes it has now front and rear & so I don't have to get it a disc front wheel etc.. Wouldn't mind lock out for riding on road to work, but basically it's just for mucking about with my kids in the Forest where we live so don't need anything too poncey. Cheers0

Is weight a concern?0

I'd say not really but like everyone else the lighter the better for me. Just seen those £54 Bombers on ebay, do these have a lock out and are they heavy, can't find info, I think the travel might be too high and lift it up too much. Seems almost too cheap, my son says they are rubbish get Fox but then he's not paying for them and I can't justify etc. Cheers0
