Should you use your height or waist as the determining factor?

I'm 185cm, so looking at a large, but I've also got a 30" waist, so that is more a small/medium size. I'm tempted to go with my waist size and hope the thing stretches okay. Any advice?

    Im 187cm/32in waist. Medium fits me perfectly.

    Your waist size is small for your height.

    I would try a medium if I were you.

    And hope they are not too short in the thigh.

    Yep. I'm skinny. You advice seems like a sensible approach.
