I know it's not MTB, so I put it in the crudcatcher. Plans are to spray the forks and bars black then start adding the bling. Gold brake cable, lever, seat clamp, spacers, ect.

  • cool, I'd leave them red TBH, rattle-can paint jobs always look.... well, just like a rattle can job. It never lasts..... or were you gonna get them done locally?

You'll have no pedalling efficiency with the saddle that low...

The forks and bars are sprayed red anyway. I think a couple of coats of black will be alright. I was thinking 5ish coats then a few coats of clear gloss. Maybe primer before the paint?
Haha, my main concern isn't pedaling efficiency so that's fine

Everyone's a comedian eh? Good one
  • Nitromoors with a wire brush

Good rub down with wet and dry

    Clean thoroughly.

    Primer

    Base coat

    Rub down

    1st coat

    Rub down... and so on.

You want about 4 decent coats on there.

then a clear coat over the top

    :)

Nice one, thanks for that. I'll give it a bash this weekend
  • only a very fine rub down between coats, just to key the next coat. And use a very fine paper ;)

The basket has fallen off the front
    Ribble Gran Fondo
    Guerciotti Lyra Cross
    Trek 6000 S/S
  • Plenty of room on the handlebars for a bell too...
  • You may want to think about getting a local powdercoater to do the front end? About £30 for the two. Its going to cost you about £20 to get all the bits to do it yourself, worth a thought?

I did indeed. Yeah i'm glad to be getting back into bmx. I used to ride alot but haven't for years. I'm thinking maybe a gold chain to finish it off, as i've get a bit of a bent link in the current one
