Hi,

Does anyone know the official weight of the Bianchi Via Nirone 7 with Shimano 105?

Or has someone weighed it that owns one?

Their brochure doesn't say...

I have an all Alu Via Nirone 7 and it's about 10kg. Mines got Campag Mirage, which is very unlikely to be heavier than 105.

I weight it with the highly unscientific method of picking up the bike whilst standing on a pair of scales  . So it's fairly heavy but pretty solid and it's pretty typical of the price range.

Wouldn't it weigh about 14st. then?

On the bianchi website, the official weights for the 2009 models are given in the archive section; I doubt there has been a substantial change this year.

The weight of a 2008 105 is 9.22 Kg. Probably correct as my Sora was officially 9.30 and weighed 9.4 with KEO classics fitted, using the Ekimike method.

Mine is the Veloce and now weighs 19.5lb with it's new tyres and tubes and should get down to the low 18's when I put new wheels on it this year.
    Not to bad.
    I've lost weight too!

I managed to lose half a kilo from the bike by swapping wheels and fitting Ultegra SL. My body somehow managed to gain 3Kg between Xmas and now.

Yeah, just watch manufacturer's claimed weights - all too often you'll find that's for the smallest frame size with no bottle cages, computers, pump, saddle bags - y'know - all the useful stuff we put on there!
Cannondale Synapse 105, Giant Defy 3, Giant Omnium, Giant Trance X2, EMC R1.0, Ridgeback Platinum, On One Il Pompino...

Before getting carried away with wanting to lose grammes from the bike, also remember that a 75cl water bottle will add 800g to your bike weight.

Yes, but if you've shaved 800g off it you get to carry a water bottle for free...
