For a £1k hardtail I'd have to suggest the Boardman Pro, which I think weighs around 24.5lb. Can't help with the Trek though.

  • Rock lobster 853 or tig team sl depending on your preference of either steel or alu? They're pretty light, i was told that the tig team sl with reba race and slx group is weighing in at around 26lbs.

Depending on the type of riding you'll be doing, if its mainly XC related, I'd get yourself down to Halfords (dont let that put you off), sit on a Boardman Pro and never look back :D
