Front brake hose probs...

Changed stem/bars, courtesy of Santa, now El Camino front brake hose is a bit too long.
I will get it shortened - eventually - but need a temporary "fix".
Having Marzz 600 XC ATA's, there's a little cable holder thingy, but...when the forks compress, the cable pops out, and then rubs on the front tyre - Not Good!
Question 1:
So, am I right in thinking a couple of heavy duty zip/cable ties will keep it in check?
Question 2:
What's the best way to run the front hose to the lever? Loose, behind the fork, through the fork brace? None of the above.
( Please keep suggestions "simple"... I'm Welsh, you see...isn't it? )
Thanks, all!
