Bike club etiquette

I have been looking at bike clubs in my local area. There seems to be 3 possibilities locally to me. I have been out with one a couple of times and going to ride with another this weekend.
One club does some good club events that i would like to do but their race team seems a little ad hoc.
The club i am going out with this weekend seems a little more geared up for racing which is what i want to do this year.
Is there an unwritten rule about belonging to more than 1 club? What is the etiquette with this?

I don't believe there is anything against being in two clubs.
One will be your main club, the other will be a 'second claim'.Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Yep, you can join as many as you like but can only race for your first claim club. Therefore you would need to make the team you want to race with your first claim and get all your BC membership etc. through them (at least I think that's how it works from memory!).0

Ah, so that is what a second claim is. I thought it was if a partner wanted to join with you! :?Orbea Marmolada (2009)

Second claim is belonging to another club, maybe because you want to ride their club events etc, whilst racing in open events for your 1st claim club. You can ride different disciplines for different clubs as well eg BC open road races for club X, CTT Timetrials for Club Y, BC open Mtb race for club Z0
