Tiagra & Ultegra

My Bike is currently running 9-speed Tiagra throughout. I am thinking about a new front derailleur, specifically ultegra. I know Ultegra is 10 speed, but I can't see how this would affect the front derailleur. Will it? Can I do this?

    The last thing I would upgrade would be the front mech. The Tiagra will work just as well as the Ultegra. I have a Sora one on the winter bike. It works fine.

    Tiagra will probably be better than the Ultegra for a 9speed system.
