Hi all,

A convert in the making, currently have a Boardman MTB and an old road bike a mate gave me.
My company is going to do a bike to work scheme and i had set my sights on a Boardman road bike from Halfords, i am now told we are not using Halfords so the Boardman is out the window.
I have a budget of £800, popped to the bike shop yesterday my options look like a Trek 1.5, Specialised Allez elite or a Orbea Aqua.
Any help on a choice would be fantastic, i know at the end of the day it is going to be down to how they feel for me when riding, but if you have any views on these bikes please type on.

Cheers
Si

I like Orbea's and they look a little different, too.
But, not sure of the 'bang for bucks' at this price.
Trek will probably prove popular with the others on here.

Is Ribble an option on your scheme?
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

No unfortunatly Ribble is not an option :(

 Rather than everyone guessing, it may be helpful if you told us all of the limitations of your C2W scheme...
    Cycling weakly
  • The brands i can recall are

    Trek
    Orbea
    Giant
    Specialised

I Was only really told of the 3 options that i mentioned in the earlier post at bike shop, i am pretty sure they had some of the Giant range in there as well.

Only one shop option for us as well Terry Wright cycles.

    Thanks

The Giant Defy 2 is mostly Tiagra spec components (better than Sora on some models at that price). They got very good reviews last year - I can't see that they would slip up with the 2010 models.

Are you able to buy any of last years (2009) models from Terry Wright ?

When I was buying a few years ago, Giant gave more bang for your buck at that price point. Dunno if it's still the case though.
