barrel adjusters do i need them

my barrel adjuster for the front mech cable has snapped in the downtube, ive got it out but the threads in the down tube are no good do i need these barrel adjusters, if so how can i put the same size threads in the downtube

    They aren't required, but they make getting the gears set up probably so much easier.

    they are handy for on the road trimming. the way round it is to put a cable barrel adjuster in there, same thing but with cable each side.like this

    put the old on back in the frame to seat the cable properly.
  • has anyone else used the jagwire inline adjusters or have you done without, ive managed to get my adjustment on the front mech by getting the wire taut but its hard to get it right the first time

    If you do not have adjusters at the cable stop then IMO inline ones are essential for the front mech. You can get away with just the one on the rear mech but an inline is good if you need to adjust on the fly.
