What do most people think is the prefered GPS system? I see a lot of Garmins around but unless I'm wrong they dont have OS maps!?!?!

Some new garmins do have OS Maps but when i've used them they are slow and maps takes ages to refresh.
I had a Satmap Active 10 but sold it before christmas. It was good if a little big for handle bars.
I now have the new Memory map 2800 and it's better than the rest fast to use. Go for that.0 -
Hi, the new Memory Map unit looks very decent for the
money as it includes 1:50,000 maps for all national parks, plus the option to download more maps for free. I think you get the computer software too which is great. Other units may trump it in terms of sensitivity/speed when aquiring satellites.
Units that take AA batteries are better for long treks because you can replace them.
Yet another consideration is accuracy - not all units are waas/egnos enabled, which some people want. Egnos is europes answer to waas, which is a network of land-based stations that help improve the accuracy of a fix coming from satellites.
There are usually good GPS reviews in Trail magazine. Or go into a walking shop and ask for a demo.
As a wildcard option, i picked up the 'OutDoors' app for my iPhone for £12.99 which has OS maps for all national parks! Sweet!0 -
was told in the shop the memory may has an eight hour battery life? true?? Looked a great device apart from that.0
