The problem is there is no manual turn key for these forks. without the poploc you cant lock the forks.

Can i Lock the forks on Rock Shox Reba Race without a poploc or turn key?

kidloco , i think long term you'd be better off converting to manual lock-out rather than buying poploc kit, but your choice.
good luck anyway , they are great forks.
    i have a set , manual lock-out tho :D

Err a poplock is a bar mounted lever.

is the blue compression cap sprung or fiction?

As i believe i mentioned earlier.

If theres no poploc in the box, and you dont plan on using it, i'm sure there was talk of a kit to remove it, not sure how much this costs though, need to find the thread about it again.

I am planning on getting a set of the reba race forks in the next couple of days, then getting the poploc bit removed from the fork, as i dont think i'll be using it.

Aye, but if theres no lever, and you dont want to buy the lever because you wont use it, you can remove the lockout bit from the fork and be done with it?

    Anyone spot the difference here?

Rock Shox 09 Reba Race 26 Dual Air Forks

    AND

Rock Shox Reba Race 26 Forks Pushloc

Both appear to be the same fork, both for disc, both same size, colour, weight, dual air and with pretty much the same description?

    Or am i missing something?

I think they are the same fork. Like a mug i spent £15 more on the one that doesn't have a poploc.

    Question to anybody
Does this fork Rock Shox 09 Reba Race 26 Dual Air Forks
require a turn key to operate properly or can i just run it as it is and get the full benefit from the fork??

didn't have to do any conversion as my forks ( 2009 recon sl ) were sold / made as manual lock-out as standard.
but pretty sure it can be done but no idea how easy/ difficult.
pretty sure supersonic or nicklouse will have the answers though
sorry pal , all i can tell ya.

    From the web;
(disclaimer: I do not know how easy it is to put the spring back, so try at own risk)

You simply unscrew the right topcap and take the damper assembly out. (no need to remove the remote-spool) It will be a bit oily but if you give it a minute to drip the oil loss will be neglegable. Air pressure can remain on the other leg. Just make sure your bike stays upright and doesn't spill its damper oil.
Now you have a motion control damper in your hand, the return spring is clearly visible inside the red swiss-cheese. Taking it out can be done by removing the swiss cheese from the top cap. They are screwed together, but, take careful notice, opposite to the top-cap/fork-leg interface. So, unscrewing the topcap from the swiss cheese is done by turning it clockwise! Clamp the swiss cheese carefully and unscrew the topcap. (takes a little force) When taking off the topcap the return spring simply falls out.
Re-assemble everything and your motion control is now effectively non-remote with a remote-spool on it.

    from else where.

you will also need a new top cap with the friction parts,

personally i would find someone who want a sprung version and they have the friction version and swap the cart over.

  • cheers for the help boys but I fear that if I started messing I would be left with knackered brand new forks
