hi after much searching stores, trying and reading reviews im struck on the bianchi via nirone 7 squadra edition at epic cycles.
im not going for carbon frame this year but like the c2c coast to coast comfort review and sporty feel, im looking for moderate comfort for sportive, the odd commute, i use a highbrid daily at the mo and will keep road bike for best (even tho my hybrid is and stays mint!) price is £1059 - cycle scheme plus £60!!
any body have any views please as this is a big purchase for my budget!

I've got the all Alu Nirone 7. My first road bike. I find it very comfortable (although alot of that is down to getting the fit right). I think those carbon seat stays will make the ride even smoother for you.
For me, it was put to the test by the LEJOG I did, and it performed admirably. With that compact chainset and 12-25 cassette, there's not gonna be a hill you can't do. Try and make sure you get Ultrashift Veloce levers. Those hoods are way more comfortable than the older campag ones I've got. All the other bits of kit on there are fine. Can't fault it.
Looks like you've got a choice between Fulcrum 7's and the Ambrosio WS-23. I've got the Ambrosio's. They're nothing special. Going through their second winter now, they still run smooth and true. Reliable would be the word. Equal comment would be true of the Fulcrums from what i've read.
In terms of pure value for money perspective, there's bikes/brands out there that give you more for your £1000 than the Bianchi. BUT, I don't presonally think anyof the rivals look as good and it's not like you'd be getting ripped off either. If you're really taken by the Bianchi, but end up with something else then you will forever think you should have got the Bianchi...
The 'better value' alternatives I'm talking about are coming from Focus Variado Expert (@wiggle), Planet -X Team Alu and Ribble 'build your own stylee', in case you want to look. I'd get the Bianchi from Epic because it looks better and they seem like a pretty well run bike retailer that you can rely on when things go wrong - something that's harder to achieve when it's done online.
Now go and splash the cash.

Yeh but you've got 2 posts about buying a new bike. That other post has 2 pages....
Get your ass up to Stonehenge Cycles (no i don't work for them, they're just a good bet) and get a shiny shiny Bianchi. You'll love it. And you're clearly drawn by it so consider nothing else, you will regret it every time you see a bianchi.0 -
Hi, Guys - I've enjoyed your exchange here about the choice of a Bianchi over anything else. I, too, am considering the Via Nirone 7 Veloce Squadra Edition although my eye was originally taken by the full carbon CentoStrada. But the extra cash is an issue and I suspect I wouldn't notice the difference in performance in all fairness.
Having said that, has either of you ridden the CentoStrada and, if so, what would your observations be when comparing it to the Via Nirone?
At the moment I ride a Lemond Chambery which has a 'carbon spine', with Ultegras all round. Very smooth and I've already spoken to Epic about transferring the Ultegra components across to the new bike; are you die-hard Campag fans or is the Ultegra a worthwhile upgrade? It won't cost anything except workshop time. (If I wanted the equivalent in Campags which one is on a par with the Ultegras??)
Any comments would be most welcome - and I agree with your final remarks, EKIMIKE - having fallen for it I think getting anything other than a Bianchi will be forever regrettable! It's just a question of which one...!0
