I'm looking for an inexpensive heart rate monitor that goes on the wrist with little fuss. I have absolutley no knowlege of these things but I would like it to cover my heart rate and cadence, anything else is not too important at the minute.

Could anybody help with advice please?

Cheers

Any of the Polar range are ideal.

    Slightly higher spec do cadence.
  • I got a Polar one for christmas. No cadence function on mine but pretty straightforward to use.

Have to go to something like a CS200 to get cadence, at which point they're not cheap.

I'd suggest getting something like a Cateye Astrale or similar with cadence and a Polar F1 HRM, be a much cheaper way of doing it.

Saying that, the more expensive Polar's have a lot more functionality.

i had a Garmin forerunner 50 and it was really good, easy to use and pretty accurate as well.
you can get pretty good deals on them at the moment as Garmin have superseded it with the forerunner 60, there are some good bundle deals for them.
this site is usually pretty good - not the cheapest but lists all the specs of every HR monitor, so you can compare brands and models and make a better decision.
then you can look for a cheaper one elsewhere.

i have upgraded to a forerunner 305 which you wear on the wrist and swaps betwen bike and run and other sports with a button press and has the cadence and HR belt too, it is a bit more expensive but worth every penny for all the extra functionality and the GPS as well.

    hope that helps
