Has anyone used this before? I have the normal MicroTex on my Trek, and cant rate it enough, still looks branch new, after lots of wet use and a crash.

I was tempted by this with a tad more cushion, and the white/red stripes to go on the new bike (matches white/red saddle and red on wheels then you see!)

Want to know how it rates vs normal Micotex tape?

Cheers

Seems to mark / hold dirt easier than Microtex, but expect it scrubs-up as well
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    +1

great if you plan on riding the bike round a circus ring on a regular basis, while dressed in a pair of floppy shoes and big stripey trousers......
  • Looks like normal Microtex!

They dont do the one with cushion in plain white...booo.

    It's nothing like normal microtex.

Stick to plain white microtex to match the saddle.

Agree - I don't like the dual colour thing at all - I hear the Microtex bar tape is very good - but I couldn't cope with the dual colours - each to their own of course.

You can only buy dual colours from gary gopshop, as far as I believe.
Plain are sold at all good LBS's.

Choose sensibly, as you don't want to look like a maypole.

djb1971 has been shopping at poundland, and looks like a maypole.

He did not take my advice, above.
  • Ignore all these naysayers - I've got the red and white on a red and white bike and it looks great.

    :lol::lol:

I wished it was from poundland. I bought it for the Izoard but when it arrived I just couldn't do it

but it cost too much to bin so I fitted it to 'gaybike' **

** Some yob shouted my bike looked gay so the name has stuck. It must look bad because that was at night in the pitch dark

    maypole bikes are bent. Fact.
Poundland is just a term for gopshops that stock tasteless tat.

    Avoid.

The red and white is a bit too loud for my tastes, but I've got the black with a blue stripe for my black and blue bike and it looks and feels good. It's a bugger to put on though - a lot more fiddly because of its thickness and the desire to line up the stripes.

The stripe is on the edge of the tape, so you could probably hide it under if you layer on top of the stripe (if you had plenty of patience...).
