WD40 isn't a lube it's a water dispersant. My vote is Purple Extreme, but you do need to apply it as per the instructions or else you are wasting your timeNeil

I second purple extreme,Finish line wet lube is also good.0

Weldtite TF2 Lubricant Spray 450ml £2.49 from WIlko
Since I like my bearings to have grease in them I avoid WD40, unless I specifically want to degrease something.0 -

I use Finish Line wet as well and it's bloody good. Just apply it, run through the gears and then wipe the excess off the chain.0
-
Progold Prolink - stays on like wet lube, clean like dry lube, great all year round.0

probably why he started using KY0 -
Being in my first year of MTB I find what to lube and with what a bit confusing (OK with the KY though ). I've been using Epic Ride White Lightening as I heard good things about it when I first got my bike and it doesn't leave a load shite all over my leg! Is this no good for the winter rides, if so, should I ditch it in favour of Purple Extreme?

big bottle can last 6 months if applying small dose every week or two but it varies0
-
To replace WD40 use TF2 as the spray lube and for a drip lube ice wax or finish line green top!0
-
TF2 comes in various flavours, mind, the spray stuff is really not much different to WD40, it's still mainly white spirit and light oil, with a little teflon in it. So, it does lubricate but it's not great, and doesn't last well.Uncompromising extremist0

I use Squirt. Used to use finish line wet, find squirt far better. I never have to clean my drivetrain with degreaser, (just drybrush it every now and then if necessary). Have to apply it more than finish line wet, but its far cleaner. Have a search on the net, loads of positive reviews for it.
