Mini pump for presta valve

Hello,

Have a bit of an issue with pumps. Bought a cheapy track pump a few months back (Asda) and took it back within a couple of hours as the interchangeable schrader/presta bit was awful (my bike has presta valves) and I couldn't get it to do anything other than flatten my tyre! So I invested in a Topeak Joe Blow jobby (teehee), with one specific attachment for each type of valve... which worked a treat.

Now I'm looking at a mini pump to take with me on long cycles in case I get a problem, but the Halfords pump I got had the same problem and I can only seem to find interchangeable pumps elsewhere. Is there a hand pump that has a specific presta attachment (rather than the interchangeable head), and if not, any recommendations on either a good interchangeable one, or advice on what I may be doing wrong if other people don't get this problem?

Cheers

PT

Try Edinburgh Cycles, they have one retailing under their own 'revolution' brand that is quite good (the track pumps are good too).

    Cheers.

I like shiny bikes - especially Italian ones.....!!

I would say to get one of these as they are liked on the forum and Iuse one myself.

Plus they have the valve attachment at either end.

I have a Topeak road morph with the built in pressure gauge. It's like using a miniature track pump. Presta only head on a flexible hose. Easy to get to 100 psi and above. Recommended.

has a flip-out foot and a decent length hose, so it can be used like a mini track pump

it's the easiest mini pump i've ever used, 120psi with no trouble. not the most compact but it's lighter than it looks and fits just fine in a jersey pocket

    also a very pretty pump
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

Like you i have the Topeak Road Morph ok its not the lightest going but its the best pump i have ever had. My problem with all the mini pumps i have had is the effort taken to get your tyre upto a decent pressure you need to have arms like Arnie and the pump barrel heats up. That said its a few years since i used one maybe they are far superior now to a few years ago.
Gasping - but somehow still alive !

The pump looks like a beauty, and it incorporates the general idea from the Topeak Morphs (like a mini track pump) so it is ergonomically sound, however I was put off by the reviews suggesting the gauge was inaccurate, so I went for the Topeak Turbo Morph - quite big, but really does claimed pressures accurately and with ease. Too big to be called a mini pump though, but the road morph and mountain morph are smaller but work the same way.

I use the Lezyne Pressure Drive Mini Pump, seems to get upto 110psi without any problems at all. I also use the Lezyne Pen Gauge Hose with it to get a rough idea of the pressure. You use the guage pen one instead of the original hose. it fits inside as normal if you have the medium Pressure drive pump, it doesnt fit inside the small pressure drive though.
