Anybody know if the SLX middle chainring will fit the XTR M970 chainset?
My XTR ring is about had it and I can't afford the XTR pucker ring anymore since pricing went AWOL....(can't belive the whole chainset cost me £185...now look at the prices).
The SLX seems to use the same sort of molded carrier with metal ring....obviously not carbon/titanium but I'm not that concerned over a few grams these days.

A common mistake but not quite that simple...as I have found previously trying to find an inner ring for the M970 chainset. BCD may be the same but the offset from the mount points can vary. This is why manufacturers like Middleburn make specific XTR rings.
Only prob is the Shimano have some trick ramps in the carrier moulding (I guess that is why shifting is sooo smooth). SLX seems to have adopted this from XTR....just not sure if they are identicle.vmgscot0
