Need some wheel advice

Hello there guys! i recently purchased a bike on auction replaced the forks and off i was but oh the brakes needed replacing, i got fed up looking for some disc ones and ended up asking my LBS to fit some bosses so i could attach V-Brakes, now heres the problem the frame is intended (and the old forks) to fit 24" wheels now the bosses with the v brakes attached no longer reach the rim 
!
so, heres my question should i go for an odd size wheel (idk if this is a good idea or not hence why im asking) or should i get one disc brake and use that at the front and the v at the rear or is there a simpler solution?
