Cable Cutters - Cheaper (but decent) option to Park?
Looking for a cable cutter but can't justify the outlay on a Park, my usage is occasional. Recommend anything "good enough" so to speak?
Don't want utter tat that won't last a single bike build like some "union" brand and clones seem to be reviewed as.

i hve a set of cyclo cutters that i paid £15 for from Halfords about 2 years ago, used fcasionaly over 18 months, then 6 months ago i opened a cycle shop, and i have used these almost every day for 6 months and they still cut as if they were brand new. i bought a full park toolkit when i opened but i am still using these cutters as they work fine, i will go onto the park soon and relegate these to my home toolkit but i can recomend these to any one for home use.
They cope with everything i throw at them, cable inner and outers, brake hose and even spokes when the nipples are siezed ondont only ride a bike0 -
I had the park tool pair, but left them outside and they rusted, couldn't justify another pair, so bought these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/LifeL ... 360031490/
Dont feel as robust as the park pair, but work well for the money0 -
Thanks guys, got me looking for non-bike specific alternatives. Seems that there is a lot of rebranding and up-pricing of ordinary stuff going on.

I cut 4 cables today with some sharp pliers with cutter, no fraying, but i had to be savage to get clean cuts. I won't be cutting again for a long time, so i cant justify £20 for a pair of proper cutters. I have a look at the ScrewFix, thanks0

Cable cutters do not come much better than Record WC6 (Irwin).0

Those seem to be the same as "union" or so many other brands, I read some reviews and unfortunately they were not very complimentary so avoided, it seems "YMMV" !!!Giant Reign X10 -
a set of electricians wire cutters from b n q will or a pair of secateurs (?). just don't forget to put on the crimps after cutting.Cotic Soul rider.0

Excellent, seem identical to the ones I bought (see above).Giant Reign X10 -
There's a company floating around called IceTools that basically make cheaper versions of all of ParkTools products, i've got a few of them and can say they have been all fine for me, haven't got the cable cutters though but from experience of their other products I would say it should be fine0
