Going to invest in some zipp tubs next year - do a fair amount of riding on rolling roads but also intend to do some big sportives incluide the etape next year. Was heading towards a pair of 202s but just looked at the difference in weight between them and the 404's......
Could naybody give a view on how different the 202s compare to the 404s when it comes to climbing??
would ordinarilly organise a test ride but nobody seems to let you test the 202's.... !
Many thanks

I haven't ridden the 202s but I personally think you would get more benefit from the 404s in general. The weight penalty is small yet at a decent pace the improvement in speed is ace! I have a 404 front and 808 rear.
One other thing to consider though is that the 202s will not suffer as much in a crosswind.0 -

Thanks - the maths would indicate i should go for 303s ... but for some reason they dont appeal .... no idea why!!Cervelo - aero tubing looks awesome but i am sure it makes bugger all differnce to performance!0 -
You'll be far more popular in a bunch on a windy day if you plump for the 202s."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I wouldn't buy Zipps period - there are cheaper, stronger and more reliable wheels out there where your money pays for the wheels, not the marketing hype and sponsorship. Everyone I know with Zipps has had a major problem at some stage - broken rims, knackered hubs, not holding true. Look on Weightweenies for informed opinions - generally from people who've ridden them, not read a catalogue.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

i`ve got some zipps, perfectly happy with them . build quality is spot on.
so i`m the first person you`ve spoken to without a problem.constantly reavalueating the situation and altering the perceived parameters accordingly0 -

I'm a third too.
Very impressed with everything about them!
+1
Love my Zipps....I have the 303s and they're great. Build is solid and they look great too.0 -
I see that Merlin have ducked below the £800 mark for Dura-ace 50mm carbon clinchers and was wondering what do the Zipp wheels offer which differentiates them to a higher level than the DA's?
Genuine question - not a wind up.

Good price!
The only thing with the DA clinchers is the weight. The hubs are excellent.
That said, Zipp clinchers are nearly as heavy!0 -

what did you have in mind specifically?? Assuming what ever you have in mind comes into a similar weight???

Had been looking around at some deep section wheels for myself, if you're wanting the Zipp 404 tubular wheelset, i found them at £999.
Would get them myself but dont have any plans on racing really, so cant be arsed with tubulars.0
