Hi,

Recently got hold of a decent frame and have started building up a bike. My question is whether or not the RH gear shifter (105, Ultegra etc) is the same regardless if you have a double or triple??
Can I mix and match and use a old Shimano 105 STi 10sp Triple 5603 shifter for the front and a Shimano Ultegra STi Double 10 Speed 6600 for the rear derailleur???

Thanks

in a word - yes. The difference in hood design/shape might feel a bit odd if they come from different model years, but functionally it would work fine.....

105 5600 and Ultegra 6600 are the equivalent 10sp models, but yes even if they weren't you could run any with any.
The righthand rear shifter must match your cassette (i.e. 10sp, 9sp, etc as appropriate)
And the lefthand front shifter must work your front mech (i.e. some are triple/double compatible, some will only do triple or only double).

Your combination is fine - those two are the same shape and everything, just the colours are different...
