Right lads,

Need some assistance with this please.

So i'm planning on dropping the 2 rings on the front chainset, small and large. However i don't really know what i need as a chain tensioner/holder etc.

Links to parts on CRC would be good as i have Xmas present vouchers from there. I don't mind running an external bashring as the Outer etc, so happy to see options on that.

Don't really fancy "oh i made this out of Lego and Sticklebricks and it works OK". I want a proper working solution please.

Currently have a Spec Hardrock sport disk 09. Happy enough to replace the middle ring with a new one if required etc.

    for what use?

you can just use your front mech.

what fittings does the frame have? ISCG,ISCG 05 or are you using a BB mount?

do you want a bash ring as well or just a guide?

come on nick, silly question, its a Hardrock, do no it doesnt have iscg mounts. all you need to do is remove the outer and inner chain rings, lose the shifter and cables, but leave the old mech in place, using the adjuster screws to centralise it, and droping it so it sits close to the chain. if you want a bash, just get an old outer ring, and grind of all the teeth and refit, its light, strong, and makes a great bash. you dont even need a new middle ring, although you can if you want.

Eeeerm, be careful if you're grinding the teeth of an aluminum ring they can cause grinding discs to explode. Steel ones are better for that bodge.
