Hi,

I'm gonna use my cross bike (Shimano 9-spd) for road riding this winter but I want to use a road wheel.

I've got a spare road wheel which currently has a Shimano 10-spd cassette on it. I'd like to use this wheel with this cassette on my cross bike. Will it work?

Cheers,
Andy

PS Plan B is to get a 9-spd cassette for the road wheel but I doubt I'll be able to get one by tomorrow morning huh.

With a Jtek shiftmate yes, otherwise the indexing is all out.

  • Just realised - I've already got a spare 9-spd cassette. Doh!

    Thanks for your responses chaps.

Can't see there would be a prob if you were to use the spare wheel with a 9 spd cassette instead of the 10spd cassette.

The indexing would be out. There's less pull on a 10 speed shifter.
