I just got back from a ride and checked my odometer (first time with my new computer).

I covered 12,456 miles in just over 3 hours. That's an average speed of 4,152 mph.

I actually felt like I wasn't moving the bike across the tarmac, instead my awesome power was moving the earth around me (Chuck Norris did this once as well).

I got out of the saddle once and just flattened a hill. I'm going to need to call the Ordnance Survey so they can update their maps after the Sussex countryside has been brutalised by my thighs.

Thats clearly just a fault.....although the 79.8 max mph i pulled according to my cat eye on staurday was very real.....i think.

Sounds like my garmin, I have done a few rides av speed 6000mph!!
I am on my third as they keep switching off mid ride going over a bump, but they keep miles done but reset the clock so end up with stupid stats.

oldwelshman i know what the trouble is with your garmins. there is a contact strip from the battery attached to the case which presses on the circuit board when the case is pressed together. because the mounting bracket is attached to the case bumps will jolt the contacts temporarily breaking power and causing a swithc off. if you dare open the case they can be soldered with wire jumpers or a small rubber spacer put behind the board for better contact.
