How will Mont Ventoux compare with this Map My Ride Entry?

Hi All,
Just back from an 'epic' in my terms![:) :)](https://forum.bikeradar.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
This map my ride entry http://www.mapmyride.com/route/ae/al%20ain/972125966849612852 I completed yesterday morning![:o :o](https://forum.bikeradar.com/resources/emoji/open_mouth.png)
If I compare the elevation profile of this climb (the largest road climb available in the UAE) then it appears slightly steeper and shorter than Mont Ventoux as per other Map My Ride listed examples), which I am hoping to attempt in the summer.
Does this comparison have any relevance, or does the overall height of Mont Ventoux add much more difficulty?
I completed this on a compact (34/50) with a 11-23 cassette - I knew that I should have put the 11-25 back on, as any additional help would have been gratefully recevied!
Thanks
Neil
(p.s. not expecting anyone to have done both - except hopefully me after the summer!)

Not too bad - double it basically (that ride is what, about 800m ascent? - Bedoin ascent is around 1600m) but yep, a nice long chunk of 9-10% in there should be good preparation.0

According to Garmin, total of 831m ascent, so close. I'll just have to do it twice then
Just wondering about the effects of the relativly lower oxygen levels at 1900m elevation!
Thanks

Neil!
You have got to be off your trolley!
I worked in Sharjah for a while and it was so f*cking hot!
I used to see the local cycling club out on training rides, all local guys, but I wouldn't have been able to go out till after dark!Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Nah, it was fine - only 26C at the start as it was cloudy!. I actually got "cold" on some sections when in the shade, slight breeze and sweating buckets
I unfortunately don't get to ride with the Dubai Roadsters as they only really do Friday mornings when I am busy rugby coaching
At least the warnings I have read about Mount Ventoux being REALLY HOT in the summer possibly won't apply (so much) to me, as I'll be going from 50C in the summer to a tepid 30C in France!
I was contemplating a turbo trainer for the summer months here while the family are away though!
At least you swapped one flat wasteland for another though

I don't think you really need to worry about that; 1900m is quite a bit below the level that most people will start to be adversely affected by lower oxygen levels. You hear people saying that it affects them (someone complained to me about it in the Pennines!), but it's usually just the fact that they're already knackered from a big climb in the heat.0 -
I just had a look on google earth at it. nice pics of cyclists from the air. it looks ok. double it sounds about right.
