Trying to decide what to do with my drivetrain on the Kona build.

As some of you know, my aim is to keep this build cheap but functional.

I have FSA Moto XC MegaExo cranks, and a deore cassette so far

I also have a Deore front mech that came with the frame.

I have never really used SRAM but don't mind a change.

So, what's the (probably divided) opinion on these 2.

Can't stretch to X7 before anyone mentions them ;)

Ta muchly

  • anymore for anymore?

I am used to Shimano, what I need to know is how the X5 groupsets perform compared to Deore, pros and cons. Long term users here?

the current X5 is the same as the first X7

    Works very well.

If you want to give Sram a go do it.

  • Thanks Nick,

I do fancy a change, and want to see what the SRAM setup is like. May very well give them a chance. Really competitive prices out there at the moment compared to Deore.

Are they hard(er) to set up than Shimano (nailed Shimano in the end, now need to learn how to set up the SRAM stuff lol)

no different other than there is no adjuster on the mech.

I found my SRAM stuff incredibly easy to set up. But not really any different to the SLX I fitted to a mates bike.
