i was close to buying a carrera vanquish a few weeks back. i wanted a second bike to get me through winter training. i reserved one at halfords but then i started reading negative reviews. the most common not being a poor set up (usual complaint of new bikes from halfords), but poor paint job! apparently the paint comes off the bike within a few weeks of riding. if you search the net or even look at the reviews on halfords, you will see this is a common issue.

the spec of the bike is good for the money. but if you can afford that little bit more i would try to get the basic boardman or look for a trek 1.2.

    hope this helps!

Got one and no problems with paint
Not bad VFM but square taper BB and a fair amount of flex as a result
A Specialized Allez isn't much more and would be worth considering
  • thks a lot guys i will look for other bikes as u said it is just that i will be getting it at a discounted price from my lbs
