Are Campag Ergopowers levers user serviceable?---or do they just work and work without any service? :D
I`m just wondering about muck / water getting into gear shift pawls / ratchet via the downshift lever slot in the rubber hood and affecting performance.
all thoughts / experineces on this appreciated---Thanks
James

  • They are user serviceable but usually due to wear and tear, I've never lubed mine in ten years of use in all weathers and they still work fine.

Thanks for that---looks a loadfa fun (not) :( ---I`ll wait until they pack in on the basis of sheer complexity and cost of parts too! Hopefully about 2020 I may service / replace them :D
  • Mercian Cycles http://www.merciancycles.com/will service them for you, price depends on what needs doing.

  • the parts are not expensive. Common ones to wear out are the G-springs £1 a pr, or free if you speak nicely to some bike shops
Recipe: shave legs sparingly, rub in embrocation and drizzle with freshly squeezed baby oil.

IME they don't need servicing unless they stop working and that typically takes 15 year plus unless you're unfortunate enough to cause crash damage.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
