Hoping to Try tomoz. Thinking of selling my Look 555 frame and getting a CAAD9...0

Yes, I love the Caad9 but find it a bit too aggressive. I want something a bit longer in the head-tube but not to much slower and less stiff. It has big shoes to fill I know.Cannondale Caad 9

So I fired off an e-mail to the boys at Tredz and it seems even they haven't straddled one yet and according to theur website they have them in stock.
I'm starting to think they've not been distributed to bike shops yet. Anyone seen any? Going for the 105 compact.Cannondale Caad 9

Forgot about this thread.
Tried the CAAD9, it was a 56 so too small for me really.
I rode there on the Look with the Zipps to do as direct a comparison as possible.
Put the Zipps on the CAAD9, it looked great and was ridiculously light considering the basic finishing kit and 105 group.
First thought was that the frame felt surprisingly different to other aluminium frames I have ridden, it was really quite comfortable, more like a steel bike!
It handled nicely, was very direct but difficult to compare really as it was a smaller frame so probably would feel like it handled more 'quickly'.
I took it up Alderley Edge to see how it climbed but it was difficult to get all my power down while seated due to the cramped position. That said it seemed to do fine.
The biggest revelation came when I gave it big legs in a flat out sprint.
The thing just leapt forward, I was almost laughing! It was really stiff and responsive.
I was very very impressed.
Then I got back on my Look and thought 'Oh. Right. That's why I like it...' No road buzz, just not quite as stiff/responsive as the CAAD9.
In all, I stand by my philosophy the for about a grand, there is no finer brand new purchase than a CAAD9. I also think you would have to spend a fortune to get a bike that is better for short road races / crits...
It was comfortable enough to have ridden all day, looked good, was light, handled well and simply flew when you put in a boost of full on QuadPowertm0 -
I keep drooling over the 2010 Ultegra CAAD 9
full carbon fork, BB30 and nice paint job....Mens agitat molem0 -

Should ask, would you change from your Look to the Caad9 ?
My only reservation about it was the comfort factor for longer rides...Mens agitat molem0 -

I would have no hesitation in using one on longer (as in century) rides. It is like no other aluminium frame I've ever ridden.
I'm umming and aahing over whether to make the switch from the Look to the CAAD9 or whether to drop some more on a high end carbon effort...
I think the Look and the CAAD9 may be too similar really.0 -
I've decided that the history and prestige of the Caad9 are too great to ignore. It's like owning a Harley -it might not be the best performer ever but it's a veritable legend of a bike, and the feel good factor of owning a bike like this this is what I'm hooked on.
I always preferred a sloping top tube as the seatpost extension looks cool on Giants and Scotts etc. On a caad9 I thought the lack of extension looked old and dated, but I've found after looking at some Caad9 pics on the web that if you put a slim profile WHITE seat on it it looks just as cool-even without much seatpost coming out.
Just one question for NapoleonD. If the 56cm is too small for you, how tall are you? I'm trying to figure out my size for a Caad9. Im 5'11 so I think 56cm.Cannondale Caad 9

I switched a Cervelo R3 for a CAAD9 - it's genuinely that good.0

56 may be fine!
I'm 6'1.5"...0 -

5'9" & have a 54cm S6, which is meant to have the same geometry as a CAAD9.
(and also has a flat tyre. I suppose I should go & fix that...)

Where are the responses to the OP question? He was asking abot the new 2010 CAAD 8, but everyone's banging on about the CAAD 9. Not that helpful really! I cannot help but I'm sure there are some people out there who can provide some response.Limited Edition Boardman Team Carbon No. 448

Nigh-on the same bloody thing! The (new for 2010) CAAD8 is last years CAAD9 (about which everyone raves), and the 2010 CAAD9 is last years CAAD9 with BB30.0

CAAD8 has slightly higher head tube and is more relaxed, aimed at the Sportive rider...0

The reason I asked about the new Caad8 is because there's next to no info about it anywhere.
It's def not an old Caad9 frame, its a new frame out this year. It looks like it could be based on the geometry of the Six series. The Caad9's are still being made in the US but this new Caad8 is being produced in Cannondale's new Taiwan facility and is thus apparently cheaper to produce by Dorel, the latest owners of Cannondale who have announced all Cannondale production will be going to Taiwan as of April 2010. (I don't want to get into a debate about 'made in the USA' and the whole jobs going offshore debate that rages on other sites.)
I'm sure its still going to be a nice frame and as NapD says is a touch longer in the headtube for sportive riders.
What I wanted to know was whether it is good, cos nobody out there seems to know yet. The 105 compact sells for £999 so isn't bad value.Cannondale Caad 9

Not according to the C'dale website - geometry of the S6 & CAAD9 are the same; Six is different; CAAD8 is different again.
