Santa wants to know what workstand would be best for a Ti bike,

Parameters:

Not cheapo tat, but not indulgent. Prefer to buy once, for life.
Price not a big issue BUT will not pay for just a name (unless it brings quality). Want value for money...
As its ti I guess there are no worries about the clamp bit?
Just for my garage / kitchen floor / garden.

I'm a bit clap handed so it must be sturdy. I've got no idea on this one and there are loads out there.

All advice appreciated.

I bought an Elite SpinDoctor - clamps at the dropouts (front or back) and holds at the BB, so no clamping on any tubes. I did get mine though for about £60 from Wiggle - the cheapest now seems to be around £130
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

You'd have to be an absolute ham-fisted oaf to 'crimp' the tubes of a ti frame with a workstand. I use a regular workstand even with a carbon frame - most jobs don't require much force and if I need to apply high loads e.g. BB jobs, you're still a lot better resting the frame and wheels on the ground
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I don't have any regrets buying my Ultimate Pro Classic stand (now renamed Feedback), pretty solid and is fine with everything from my carbon road bike to 40lb DH bike. I always use it when washing bikes to and there's no sign of any rust/corrosion. It's designed to clamp the seatpost which is fine for 99% of what I do.

Forget the ti bit, lets just stick to workstands in general.

When i was looking for a decent stand, I looked at Park, Ultimate, Tacx but I didn't buy any of them. Put off Ultimate as I didn't think they were sturdy enough and Park I think just overpriced.

I bought a cracking stand, about two years ago.
I can't remember the name of it, and, being away, I can't see it, either.
I'll let you know what it is middle of next week.
Tell Santas hlepers to hang on a bit. It's a great stand and only cost about £70  Was heavily reduced at the time!

    Standby......
