hi a newbie here so forgive me if this subject has already been covered.
Riding on Custom DT Swiss X470, 29"..on specialized stumpjumper 09.
have just started riding again after 6 months of pneumonia and 2 front and 1 rear spoke nipples(aluminium) have snapped in the last 2 weeks. got the bike shop to repair the first 1and did the other 2 myself to save on cost, but i am now wondering if this is common and i need complete rebuild or new wheels, am now conscious of wheels disintegrating whilst out riding and disappointed as bike has not been ridden much due to illness
thanx for advice
steve

how many spokes on each wheel?
32 or 36?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

32 holes0

get then changed for brass ones.
never been a fan of alloy nips on MTBs and more so on 32 and less spokes."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I had exactly the same problem with my Specialized Rockhopper Pro. Evans Cycles rebuilt the rear wheel under warranty and since then it has been fine, even with a couple of big crashes. The said it was due to the wrong tensions being used at the factory.
It well worth getting the wheel rebuilt0 -
thanx rebuild it is.0

They also use flimsy 15g spokes - I'd get some nice double butted ones to complete the package.0
