Be gentle with me, go steady and no silly words or terms.

How do I put pictures on this page ?

Now I understand key board, screan and mouse but that's about it.
I know how to put my didgital pictures onto the computor and into folders (another word I know) I've tried clicking onto them and trying to paste ( yet another term ) but that doesn't work.

please just one easy step at a time.

Well, I'm not as young as I once was

  • you'll need to upload them to somewhere online first (we can't all 'see' your personal computer)

popular online photo hosting sites include flickr and picasa

once your pictures are online you then need to find the url

most photo storage sites have this information shown somewhere.

you then need to use a little bit of code (less scary than it sounds) - which you can do using the buttons above the forum reply box - its the one that says img

paste in the url - then highlight it - then click the img button, and it should insert the code for you

If you want to insert your picture (rather than just the link), click the box above where you type your forum message that says Img, before and after the actual image address.
It will look something like this [img]http:whatever[/img].
    ...and you will get this:
    2008%20Cold%20spring%20run%20to%20Whitby%20but%20nice%20fire%20001.jpg
    :D

You will have to insert the actual address of the pic (right-click on your Picassa photo <a new window will pop-up>, go to Properties, then copy the whole of the URL Address bit - it will end with .jpg)

Is this the chappie? I used the link you gave, went to the picture and then right-hand clicked on the photo and chose ''copy image location''...then pasted it here, selected the text, pressed the Img button, and there it is.

Lovely photo, by the way

Edit: using Firefox - don't know the wording with IE
Re-edit: ''Copy image URL'' in Chrome.

You've got to be linking to a webpage with the end of the webpage url having a .jpg/.jpeg/.png/.bmp etc at the end, otherwise you are not linking to an image.

You have to link to an image and an image alone, not a website.

John mate you need to link to an image rather than a webpage. An image will have something like a .jpg on the end.

OK go slowly I've tried, you obviously got all the information from what I put on this forum. I pressed IMG inserted the image address and then IMG nothing.

Picsa is not the best as often users need to be registered to see.
    the photo properties are
    http://lh4.ggpht.com/_R3sqYbkCmZI/SwAwN ... 0Colin.JPG

in the img tags you get

    2009%20Crossing%20Ford%20Osmotherly%20John%20C%20Philip%20Colin.JPG

as i am loged in to Picsa i can see it.

    ...nearly there...

John, what you appear to be doing is copying the URL from the web-page itself (at the top of the screen). This isn't the URL that you need to insert the photo into the forum.

What you need to do (if you're using Internet Explorer) is Right-click the actual picture in your Picassa web-page. A menu will appear - scroll down on that menu to Properties & (left) click on Properties. A new box will then appear. In this new box, copy all of the URL (to the right of where it says Address: (URL)) - this will end with '.jpg'
...it's this URL that you then insert between the [img]bits. ...by the way John, I like what you've done with the kitchen - it's very open-plan and rustic.[/img]

okay John, starting with your mouse at the beginning of the address (where it starts 'http://etc...') left-click and drag your mouse down & to the right.
    This will highlight the address...
...drag all the way until you see it ends '.jpg'
Then once it is all highlighted, release the mouse button (this will leave the address still highlighted)...
Then right-click over the highlighted address and choose 'Copy'
(this will have copied the URL that you need)
Then click on Cancel on the pop-up box.
Now paste this URL in-between the bits.

You need to make sure you copy the whole of the URL in the pop-up box, starting 'http://..' and ending with '.jpg'
